Every once in a while two mutually exclusive events occur that makes one wonder just how much drug use exists in our nation’s government employees, and the journalist of this nation. The identification of recognizing the anniversary of the ‘Battle of Gettysburg’ during the ‘War of Northern Aggression’ was such outlandish incomprehensible propagandized tripe it is nauseating.
"Gettysburg: A New Birth of Freedom"
I could not help but shudder at the heading—‘A New Birth of Freedom.’ Could there have been a more incorrect identifier? Should not it have been more appropriate, the last attempt to preserve the nation of liberty retaining freedoms, crushed forever more the correct moniker?
The actual battle is fraught with so many contradictions it is difficult to make much sense. How could the largest cannonade in this continents history, not have put a dent in the center of the Union line; a question still answered in only speculation and hypothesis—a consortium of theorems—lacking any that have any means of positive verification.
Was it bad shells, incorrectly set for distance? Was it the placement of General Meade with no reserves, placing everyone on the line? Was it the goal to destroy the reserves, and not the actual defensive line of the Union defense? All of these are questions, which if any one cold be proven as the defining fact would perhaps make the battle make sense. But atlas, we do not have a definitive answer. We only know that the only thing proven at the battle of Gettysburg was something that has already been proven in many battles of the war—that men behind rock walls and protection, in a defensive position, are in much better position to survive than men who are marching shoulder to shoulder across open fields facing the enemies blistering firepower.
Yet the battle is more symbolic than we often care to remember; for it was the last gasps of an attempt of the states of the South to preserve their sovereignty of statehood, and the rejection of domination of central government.
The moniker—Birth of Freedom—is so inappropriate to render the whole event macabre.
Yet to speculate of the possibilities is quite interesting. Would the ‘War of Northern Aggression’ ceased…if the Army of Northern Virginia would have destroyed the Army of the Potomac and captured Washington DC? Or would have the government of Washington, Lincoln’s tyranny but retreated and carried on the conflict from another location? Or the most interesting to wonder; what if the war would have ceased, and the South and North separated—who can even envision the results? Leading to the speculation, what would the world be today; and would we have all the racial problems this mistaken event created? This is the never ending question of what could have, or would have been.
Our history is our history. The results, the one spear, the one hope of the South that this last singular chance to militarily force a conclusion was chewed to bits in the meat grinder of Picket’s charge, and the destruction of so many. The last straw, the siren song of the end of the conflict—and the domination of the states of this nation by the federal government ever since—sadly was the result.
Not only the beginning of the end of the confederation of states; but the beginning of the end of the philosophical idealism of the not only the last, but the first nation ever conceived on the principles of liberty, or protections of freedom.
In fact the demise of the Constitution started by Lincoln has so determinate in this nation; that when the then Chair of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi was asked what ‘Constitutionally’ authority she had to pass the ‘Affordable Care Act’ made an apply as obominomic as any of this administration. ‘Are you serious; Are you serious!’ with complete disregard that our nation’s design is ‘enumeration’ of the powers of government by that very same constitution. Telling the American people as the supreme court verified, the government of this nation—is communist—and can do any damn thing it wishes.
How strange that our history is not our history, but a propaganda of taking the epitome of this nation’s demise, and making it a celebration, now that is a tragedy!
